Birds of a Feather

Birds of a feather flock together, but these little guys had some bigger birds chasing them. It was a little crazy watching them fly around. They seemed to be playing with the winds at the beginning of a storm front that rolled through.

It is a little hard to see them, but in the picture below you can just make out the flock of birds in the darker clouds.

How to Title a Piece of Art or Image

Sometimes when I take a photo I can immediately imagine the photo on my blog with a great title over it. But I usually don't end up titling my own work. I think that the titles I come up with might be a little too cliche or abstract, or other times I find that they are way too bland. I stumbled upon this web site called The Abstract Art Titlegenerator that gives random suggestions for your work. I have had a blast clicking through. Below are my attempts to apply the title generator's tremendously random insight to some of my images:

North State Hunting Club

I want to first say Congratulations to Carson and Brent on their engagement. We had a wonderful time celebrating at the North State Hunting Club . It was my first time to this institution of the Clark family. We started off with oysters and moved on through an amazing spread topped off with great people and awesome music. I am really looking forward to the weddings coming up within the Clark crew.

The picture below is an image of the Mill Pond right next to the club. The reflection in the water was perfect, and the weather couldn't have been better. I promised a shot of the weekend so here you go...

Moments of Meditation

Here are a couple more images from my weekend at White Lake. I thought both had a little bit of a Zen feel to them. I love the simplicity. I think both shots really speak to the quiet, simple and relaxing time Carolyn and I had at the lake. Hope you are finding your own moments of meditation.

Finding My Motivation

Carolyn and I had an amazing Valentine's weekend. We went up to White Lake, NC for some much needed R&R. White Lake is a beautiful shallow spring fed lake. Of course its bottom is all white sand, hence the name. It was a little chilly as you will see in the second picture, but the sun was out and we were fortunate to have a perfect sunset. I love the Spanish moss that covers most trees down there. It was so quiet. It felt like we had the lake to ourselves. We even took the canoe out for a little bit. So here are a few shots of our weekend.

Carolyn had a great book that she couldn't put down, and there wasn't a more perfect place to read than out on the dock. A great place to take in the sunset as long as you had on some layers!

Need Some Motivation

The weather outside is not inviting... I need to find some motivation to go out and take some shots. I recently moved to Charlotte, NC and I know there is no better way to explore a new town than to go out with my camera. But there is that weather again. Whenever I went out and explored different parts of NYC I always came back refreshed, excited and eager to explore my images on my computer.

I took this shot by the South Street Sea Port. This photographer took his time setting up to grab the end of the sunset. He was very focused and I enjoyed watching this scene unfold. I hope he found the perfect photo!

Flying Away

During my photography class a while ago, I had to try and capture my "decisive moment." This was taken by the South Street Sea port in NYC. If you have ever been there you know that there are a ton of sea gulls all lined up on the rail for anyone to snap some shots. I love this shot for some reason. I think it is the wings of the second bird that I love. Great outline and makes me always think of wanting to take off and fly away. I don't really know where I would head off to, but I wouldn't mind having that ability!
