First Birthday

I was thrilled to be present for Ella's first birthday party. Her parents asked me to take a few shots to document the party, and she was perfect. It certainly helped that she seemed to love the camera, and was always ready with a smile that will melt your heart. More to come from this day!

New Sound

I find myself listening to this guy a lot... James Vincent McMorrow. He recorded this album by basically locking himself up in his Ireland home by the coast . This was all self recorded. I love his sound. I can't put my finger on his writing style, but it is very soulful. His voice just takes me away. I wanted to share this with you all... Enjoy!

If this is redemption, why do I bother at all
There's nothing to mention, and nothing has changed
Still I'd rather be working at something, than praying for the rain
So I wander on, till someone else is saved
I moved to the coast, under a mountain
Swam in the ocean, slept on my own
At dawn I would watch the sun cut ribbons through the bay
I'd remember all the things my mother wrote
That we don't eat until your father's at the table
We don't drink until the devil's turned to dust
Never once has any man I've met been able to love
So if I were you, I'd have a little trust
Two thousand years, I've been in that water
Two thousand years, sunk like a stone
Desperately reaching for nets
That the fishermen have thrown
Trying to find, a little bit of hope
Me I was holding, all of my secrets soft and hid
Pages were folded, then there was nothing at all
So if in the future I might need myself a savior
I'll remember what was written on that wall
That we don't eat until your father's at the table
We don't drink until the devil's turned to dust
Never once has any man I've met been able to love
So if I were you, I'd have a little trust
Am I an honest man and true
Have i been good to you at all
Oh I'm so tired of playing these games
We'd just be running down
The same old lines, the same old stories of
Breathless trains and, worn down glories
Houses burning, worlds that turn on their own
So we don't eat until your father's at the table
We don't drink until the devil's turned to dust
Never once has any man I've met been able to love
So if I were you my friend, I'd learn to have just a little bit of trust

Flying Away

During my photography class a while ago, I had to try and capture my "decisive moment." This was taken by the South Street Sea port in NYC. If you have ever been there you know that there are a ton of sea gulls all lined up on the rail for anyone to snap some shots. I love this shot for some reason. I think it is the wings of the second bird that I love. Great outline and makes me always think of wanting to take off and fly away. I don't really know where I would head off to, but I wouldn't mind having that ability!

Little Dude

I would like everyone to meet Kayson. We had a little holiday gathering before Christmas, and I couldn't help snapping a few shots.

A Little About Me...

I have been dabbling in photography for many years, but I want this "hobby" to turn into more. I finally became serious when I moved to NYC. I will post many pictures in the days to come that show my time in that amazing city. This was a phenomenal place to find my own voice behind the lens, so to speak. Prior to NYC I was captivated by landscapes of beautiful mountains, lakes and anything that kept me close to nature. NYC pushed me to find beauty outside my traditional views, and for that I am forever thankful to the big apple. My biggest kick at the moment are portraits. So here is a self portrait to start things off:

Day One...

I am so excited to venture into the world of blogging! I have fallen in love with my camera, and I find happiness through images. Happiness doesn't always come easy, and is sometimes more enjoyed when it catches you by surprise, or when you find that all the hard work you put into something pans out. Photography can give you the best of all worlds. Sometimes at the magic hour everything becomes easy. At other times I find myself working so hard to make everything perfect. Usually I am surprised at what catches my eye when I sit down and sort through the shots of the day.

I am entranced by the power of images, and when I am behind my lens the world pauses leaving me completely in the moment. Photography has become my meditaiton.  I hope to share these moments with you as a chronicle of the places my lens takes me.
